Meet my friends: Lucka

Meet my friend - Lucka, who is my friend from university and currently also my flatmate. I've decided to introduce her to you as she is working in the man's world (for a car company) and I was curious how do they all treat her. Besides that she super smart and dedicated, she always brings us a home made cake when she comes on Sunday evening from home. So here you are and enjoy!
What do you have for breakfast?
During the weekend my Dad usually goes to the bakery and brings home all the delicious pastry he can find. My favorite are with raspberries, when the pastry is stuffed with raspberries and mascarpone - that's really delicious! Or when someone makes pancakes for breakfast, that's not bad either! As during the vacation, they made us fresh pancakes. And I like them with maple sirup or fruits. And always when I am watching Gossip Girl, they eat there those waffles with raspberries - oh, I'd like to have their breakfast!  And what was really surprising when speaking of breakfast, when I was this summer in Spain, they served ice cream for breakfast! Which I couldn't really go with, but maybe with pancakes it wouldn't be that bad! :)
How is it to work in men's world?
Well, it definitely has advantages and disadvantages. When it comes to advantages, it's always that they really appreciate that they have the there. They are also much into details and when I enter in the morning they scan me and make some compliment!
But do they also notice things, which normally guys don't see, such as when you cut your hair?
Yes, actually they are always checking if my nails fit my clothes!!! (oh my, and they are working with cars!!!) Or for example today, my college was also wearing green and he came to me and told me that we look like two turtles! Because he was wearing a green shirt, so we really matched!  It's just that sometimes they can be too observant, when it comes to cleavage or when I was wearing a white skirt during the summer and it was slightly see-through... They knew straight away that I was wearing lacy underwear, what was even sooner than I had a chance to realize it! Thanks to the small number of girls, which is 4 and 30 men, they are really putting an effort in their behavior, they open door for me or sometimes take my lunch - kinda gentlemen! :)
Do you think that sex (I mean if you're woman or man) can play a role when it comes for example to promotion? Would they prefer you to a man?

Well, probably not. If it was about staying in the office, then I think I would have an advantage. But with promotion, I don't think so. The guy will have it easier. They just all think that I am a girl so naturally I can't understand cars as much as a guy. But I think that they're really glad to have me here. And everyone is jealous of my boss, 'cos he has a girl in his devision! :D

But back to the disadvantages now - well, if there are any?!

Well, when they are looking at me, that look! a girl, she can't understand cars much. But I have to agree with them, I am not that much interested. We have loads of car magazines in work and I don't even open them. The closest I get is when I check the cover :D

And also when you see all guys talking to each other, how vulgar they can be. But actually this can be also an advantage, at least I have a chance to observe them, when they are together. But sometimes I am really amazed what comparisons they can make!

Spoznajte moju kamaratku Lucku! S Luckou sme sa spoznali na univerzite a momentalne sme dokonca aj spolubyvajuce. Rozhodla som sa Vam ju predstavit, lebo je to dievca, ktore sa pohybuje v cisto muzskom svete - pracuje totiz v auto-priemysle, a ja som bola zvedava, ako sa tam k nej spravaju. Okrem tohoto vsetkeho je super mudra a horliva, ale zo vsetkeho najviac mam rada, ked v nedelu vecer donesie domaci kolacik! Takze nech sa paci!
Co mas rada na ranajky?
Cez vikend ma tatko vo zvyku rano chodit nakupovat, tak nam stale potom nosi vsetko mozne co maju u nas dobreho v pekarni. Najlepsie su malinove, ked je pecivo plnene malinami a tvarohom - tak to je dobre! Alebo keby niekto urobil palacinky, to by bolo uplne dobre, ako ked sme boli na dovolenke a tam nam robili cerstve palacinky na ranajky :) A mam ich rada s javorovym sirupom alebo s nalozenym ovocim, nieco medzi dzemom alebo ovocim. A hlavne sa mi stale paci ked pozerame Gossip girl, tak raz by som chcela mat take ranajky! Tie ich wafle s malinami!  A teraz ked sme boli v Spanielsku, tak tam bola na ranajky aj zmrzlina! Ale tu som uplne nezvladla, ale mozno na tych palacinkach by asi nemusela byt zla.
Takze ake je to pracovat v cisto panskom kolektive?
Tak ma to urcite svoje vyhody aj nevyhody. Tie vyhody su v tom, ze ti chlapi si ta tam hrozne vazia, su velmi vsimavi, takze ked prides do prace, tak si ta vzdy celu prehliadnu, pochvalia ta ako ti to slusi, ...
Ale vsimnu si napriklad aj take veci, ktore si normane nevsimaju, napr. ze si ostrihana?
Ano, prave stale skumaju ako mam zladene nechty s oblecenim!!! (a to oni pracuju s autami!!) Alebo dnes jeden kolega bol tiez v zelenom ako ja a on ku mne prisiel, ze sme dnes ako dve korytnacky! Lebo mal zelenu koselu, tak sme boli k sebe pekne zladeni! No ono je to tak, ze niekedy ta to potesi ale ked mas potom vystrih alebo v lete ked som mala bielu suknu a ta bola trochu priesvitnejsia... - tak potom boli uz az prilis vsimavi! Takze hned videli, ze mam krajkovane spodne pradlo, co som pomaly nevedela ani ja! :D Vdaka tomu ze sme tam 4 dievcata a asi 30 chlapov, tak sa nas tam snazia rozmaznavat, stale otvaraju dvere, alebo ked idem na obed tak mi sem tam vezmu aj tacku s jednom - celkom gentlemani :) 
Myslis si, ze by pohlavie bolo rozhodujuce napriklad pri povyseni? Keby si mali vybrat medzi muzom a zenou?
No to asi nie. Ale keby sa jednalo len o to, ci tam zostanem ja alebo chlap, tak to by som asi vyhodu mala. Ale keby som mala byt povysena a jednalo by sa o mna a o chlapa, tak to budem mat tahsie. Lebo ti chlapi si povedia, ze to dievca tym autam predsa tak nerozumie. Ale myslim si, ze su radi, ze tam vobec nejake dievca maju a tak sa o mna staraju. Napr. aj ten sef je rad, ze ma tam ma, lebo nejakym sposobom mu ini zavidia, ze on ma na oddeleni dievca :D

When you're studying, you need to, firstly, make yourself motivated and secondly: keep yourself motivated! You probably don't know that this semester is gonna be in the name of China for me. I've decided to have Chinese Studies as my minor and according to this I picked up my highlighters. How do you like my baby pandas? I'm in love with them. Possibly the cutest thing ever. Found it actually in Utrecht in the station shop - how random?! haha So I hope that my pandas will bring me luck and I'll pass this semester on China successfully and afterwards will be able to visit real pandas - in their natural surrounding in China! Wish me luck! 
Ked studujete, potrebujete sa v prvom rade nejako motivovat a v hned v druhom rade, nejako si tu motivaciu priebezne udrzat! Pravdepodobne vacsina z Vas nevie, ze som sa tento semester rozhodla ako svoju vedlajsiu specializaciu studovat cinske studia (nie je to cinstina!!!). A nasledne som si k tomu doladila aj zvyraznovacky!

I found the perfect lipstick for a love letter! Seriously, no kidding, this one is just perfect.  I can only wish people were writing more love letters now. Instead of text messages and e-mails. Where is the romance? (I assume gone with the wind together with Scarlette O'Hara and Rhett Buttler.) How can you send such a beautiful kiss via e-mail? Simply - you can't! Ok, I got it. This can be a lil bit intense for you guys and probably only 5% (if not less) of you, would actually do something like this - signing a letter with a kiss. But still. I think there's something about it. I can easily imagine myself being in middle ages, putting a lipstick on my lips and printing them on a love letter. Then tying it onto a pigeon's leg and letting it fly away... aaaw! Gwen Stefani would be more than suited for this role and finally her secret of eternally red lips is revealed. Maybe it's more like a deduction. So I am more than proud to announce you, that it's YSL, who makes this eternal lasting lips. And you will probably see me the whole autumn wearing them around! Musim Vam slavnostne oznamit, ze som nasla ten pravy ruz pre lubostne listy! A teraz seriozne vazne, bez srandy, je uplne perfektny!  Mozem si len zbozne zelat, aby sa znovu zacali pisat taketo listy. Kde sa podela vsetka ta romantika? (Pravdepodobne odviata vetrom spolu so Scarlette O'Harovou a Rhettom Buttlerom.) Ako mozeme v sms-ke alebo v e-maili poslat tak dokonaly bozk?

The beginning!

Being a student has some advantages! I am not talking about the student life now. With all the parties, drinks and friends... (which is also very good!). I am talking about the beginning of the school year, which is about to start on Monday for me. New beginning - new resolutions and new changes. So practically, we students, have this chance twice a year - wohoo! I couldn't be more excited - believe me! So for this new school year, I make those resolutions:

1. Read Great Gatsby before it hits the movies.
2. Keep my running habits (unbelievable, but those things happen!)
3. Study, study, study!
4. Job-hunting!
5. Still find time to have a cup of coffee with my friends :)

What about you? Do you make any? Oh well, as you can see, I am already fully packed and ready to catch the train to Prague. Bon voyage!

Byt studentom ma bezpochyby niekolko vyhod. Teraz vsak nehovorim o studentskom zivote, ktory so svojimi party, drinkmi a kamosmi, ma tak isto nieco do seba.

Hovorim o zaciatku skolskeho roka, ktory sa pre mna zacne uz zajtra. Novy zaciatok - nove predsavzatia a nove zmeny a vyzvy! Takze prakticky, my studenti, mame takuto moznost dvakrat do roka - huraaa! Myslim, ze nemozem byt viac nadsena - verte mi!

A prave preto som si prichystala zopar novo-skolsko-rocnych predsavzati:

1. Precitat si Velkeho Gatsbyho pred tym ako sa dostane do kin.
2. Udrzat si svoje bezecke ritualy (neuveritelne, ale taketo veci sa fakt deju!)
3. Studovat, studovat, studovat!
4. Najst si pracu!
5. Ale aj napriek tomu vsetkemu, stale si najst cas na salku kavy s kamoskami :)

Meet my friends: Zuzka

Lieblings, for this Friday I've picked up for you my friend Zuzka. She belongs to people I know the longest time in my life. Not even we started 8-years-high school together, but we still keep in touch after the graduation from universities :) Zuzka is beautiful (oh her hair!!!), understands biology and chemistry and she's marries! She is my first friend who got married, and exactly that's why I've decided to interview her for you. So please, enjoy:
What do you usually have for breakfast? (a warm up!)
Oooh, really bad question for me! I hardly ever eat breakfast, as I almost always oversleep and I am happy that at least I manage to dress up! Sometimes it happens that my very first meal is actually lunch. Really bad, I know! But during the weekend I like to have a "sweet pastry" (really poor English translation - sorry) with butter and our family speciality is to sprinkle it with powder sugar (which reminds me a lil bit of Dutch style breakfast ;-)) And of course, hot cocoa! 
Wedding is supposed to be the most beautiful day in your life. Is it true for you?
Honestly,...YES! It was the highlight of the whole year, which we spend with preparation. When you care for the color of candles and napkins, picking up the decoration and tasting cakes... simply, you're trying to make everything perfect! And then the day comes, when you dress up in your wedding dress and forget all the small details, even tho you were going crazy that the candles are not in ivory color but in cream! The only thing I had on my mind that day was that I was standing in church next to Jakub and becoming his wife for the rest of our lives. Our whole wedding day was really beautiful. To see how happy our families and friends were, how they all love us and wish us all the best and of course what a good time they were having. We enjoyed it that much that we forgot to cut the wedding torte! lol
They say that the adventure either ends or starts with the wedding. How is it with you and Jakub? How have you spend your first after-wedding weeks?
When it comes to us, the adventure has certainly just begun! We are about to move to our very first and own flat, we have both graduated and got a job! I adore everything, what's new for me and recently it has been a lot! And the first after-wedding weeks? Lenka, you've heard more than enough about the reconstruction, right - haha?! Our marriage will fully start when we will finally move to the flat and we will be falling asleep next to each other in our new bed, which is now still in a basement! haha

Milacikovia, na dnesny piatok som pre Vas vybrala svoju kamaratku Zuzku. Patri k ludom, ktorych poznam najdlhsie. Spoznali sme sa na gymnaziu a stretavame sa dodnes, uz aj po vysokej skole :) Zuzka je krasna (tie vlasy!!!), rozumie biologii a chemii a je vydata! Strasne, ja viem! Cez vikend si ale rada dam cerstvu vianocku s maslom a nasa rodinna specialita: posypem si ju praskovym cukromJ A samozrejme kakao nesmie chybat!

Svadba by mala byt najkrajsim dnom zivota. Plati to aj o Tebe?

Musim neskromne povedat, ze ANO ! Svadobny den bol vyvrcholenim roku priprav, kedy sa staras o farbu sviecok a servitiek, vyrabas tonu dekoracii, ochutnavas kolace... proste sa snazis, aby bolo vsetko dokonale. A potom pride ten den, ked sa oblecies do svadobnych siat a uplne zabudnes na vsetky taketo malickosti, aj ked este vcera si salela z toho, ze sviecky su slonovinove a nie smotanove. Jedine na co som v ten den myslela bolo, aby som uz stala v kostole pri Jakubovi, a aby som uz bola navzdy jeho zenou. Cely nas svadobny den bol taky krasny! Vidiet nase rodiny a kamaratov aki su stastni, a ako nas maju radi, ako nam zelaju to najlepsie, a ako sa s nami zabavaju. Bavili sme sa az tak, ze sme uplne zabudli rozkrajat svadonu tortu!

Directly or indirectly I've realized that this week is about to be dedicated to love. Exactly as the last one was dedicated to the Netherlands, this one is about love. And stay tuned for the my Friday highlight interview with one of my friends who really inspires me when it comes to this :)
Anyway, I've just found out that I still haven't posted any pictures from the wedding, my friends and I attended 2 weeks ago. So here they are, 'cos what's bigger and better to celebrate love if not the wedding itself?

Ci uz priamo alebo nepriamo, nejako sme sa tento tyzden dostali k teme laska. A prave tak ako som minuly tyzden venovala Holandsku, tak tento venujem prave laske. Hlavne sa mate na co tesit, co sa tyka mojeho piatkoveho rozhovoru. Chystam sa Vam predstavit kamaratku, ktora ma specialne v tejto oblasti velmi inspiruje :)
V kazdom pripade, len dnes som si uvedomila, ze som tu vlastne vobec nedala fotky zo svadby, na ktoru sme s mojimi kamaratkami boli pozvane pred dvomi tyzdnami. A kedze je temou dnesneho tyzdna uz tolkokrat spominana laska, ako je mozne ju oslavit lepsie ak nie samotnou svadbou?

Ever since last week I've started to occupy my thought with the topic: luck. Of course, nothing is accident. I was in movies during the "ladies night" and there, as you surely know, is a raffle in the end of the movie. And as I was falling asleep during the whole movie, suddenly I woke up when they announced that the seat with my number wins the first prize! What was the prize is not that important here. Ok, it is! Well, even the picture is about it. So let's say that my perfume collection got bigger :)  BUT... the whole life I was living in a belief that I have luck in love and not in game (well, this is a pure word by word translation from Slovak - sorry). And now this?! I've never ever won anything in a lucky-dip during my high school events. Not even a chocolate egg! And you know, my classmates were coming home with hamsters and so... (ok, I don't know what would my mom told me if I came home with a hamster. Probably we both would be thrown out of flat - but still!).  On the other hand, I can't really say that I was that lucky in love. But I always thought that it's just supposed to come. But what to do now? Finally I am in the age when it all would be worth it and I won the ionic hair brush?!  As my mom's colleague told me, tomorrow is a whole different day. Uz od minuleho tyzdna som sa zacala zaoberat temou stastie. Samozrejme nie nahodne. Bola som v kine na "damskej jazde", a tam je stale na konci filmu tombola. A aj napriek tomu, ze som cely film umierala od nudy, tak ked vyhlasili, ze prvu cenu ziskava moje sedadlo, hned som sa prebrala! To co bolo prvou cenou nie je az tak podstatne. Teda, samozrejme ze je. Ved o tom je aj fotka, ktoru som tu uverejnila. Povedzme, ze moja kolekcia vonaviek sa opat raz rozrastla :)  ALE... cely zivot zijem v presvedceni, ze "nestastie v hre a stastie v laske", a teraz toto? V zivote som v tombole na skolskej diskoteke nevyhrala ani kinderko! A to moji spoluziaci vo velkom vyhravali morske prasiatka a podobne blbosti (uprimne neviem si ani predstavit, co by povedala moja mamina, keby som sa domov privliekla s morskym prasiatkom! Asi by sme mali obaja vyhadzov!). Ale aj tak!

So this is a very random post, which I didn't even plan half an hour ago. Just wanted to show you my new babies! I hope that thanks to them I'll be able to finish university and look extra smart and not only extra geeky.  What do you think?  Have a happy weekend everyone!
Takze toto je velmi nahodna posta, ktoru som ani neplanovala tak pred pol hodinou, ale slovo dalo slovo a ja som sa rozhodla, ze Vam konecne ukazem novy prirastok to rodiny, a sice moje nove okuliare.

Meet my friends: Kitty

Ladies and gentlemen, please, meet Kitty. She is one of my closest, if not the closest, friend. Dutch born, student of dentistry but most of all the queen of vintage and my eternal inspiration when it comes to style, decor and antique! I've been mentioning her name a lot last days, partly due to my recent visit in Amsterdam and partly due to the general fact of the friendship itself. So here is a little interview I've prepared for you. Hope you'll like it and get inspired as well :)
What do you usually have for breakfast? (this is just a warm up question for everyone ;-)) Normal? Or with you? :D I always take wholewheat bread, sometimes I toast it. Then what I really love are sprinkles - "hagelslag" or "flokken" or mix - bicolore :) But sometimes I also like the colored ones, the sugary ones, fruchthagels. Then I also like "muisjes" those made from anis. You have it in pink and white or blue and white, so when babies are born, when it's a girls it's pink and for boy blue. And normally you eat it on "schron" (correct my spelling!!!) it's little bit of brown and crunchy. Then what else? I really like cappuccino with "mountains". The mountains are fluffy and then under it's milky coffee. And sometimes I put vanilla in it. Never sugar, because you know I am dentist!
You know that I am in love with your room. What inspires you when collecting all the antique? Well Lenka, let me tell you about it! Actually my father designed my room. (I didn't know that!!!) He has a lot of stuff, so he tells me: you can take this or this... And I am like "okeeee, give it to meee". But for the paintings I like pictures of Amsterdam. I collect them. Really old ones. And also I have dentistry things, did you see the tools on the picture? And also my grandmother contributed with her antique staff. My "Tiffany lamp". Then she also wanted to give me a Chesterfield couch, but it's brown, so my brother took it! And things I like the most about my antiques is when you go upstairs there's this big closet. I really like it!

Today I've decided to make a sum up of all the pictures I collected during my stay in the Netherlands last week. And for tomorrow I've prepared a high light of the week. As from this week I've decided to introduce you each Friday a friend of mine who inspires me and about who I'm talking here, so you'll get a better perception who people in my life are. Dnes som sa rozhodla urobit suhrn obrazkov, ktore som nafotila pocas pobytu v Holandsku. A na zajtra mam uz pre Vas pripraveny "high light" tyzdna! A sice od tohto tyzdna som sa rozhodla, ze Vam kazdy piatok predstavim cloveka, ktory ma inspiruje a o ktorom sa tu na blogu zmienujem, takze budete mat lepsiu predstavu o tom, o kom hovorim a kto ludia v mojom zivote su. Takze dufam, ze sa uz vsetci tesite a mozete uzatvarat stavky, kto bude prvy!

Introducing: Blond Amsterdam

Remember when I was talking about my obsession with Blond Amsterdam here? So guess what? Dreams coming true and for the first time in my life I made it to the flag store, which was just beyond paradise for girls all age!

I think I don't have to tell you that it was Kitty who introduced me to this heaven on earth. And always when we were having breakfast we had it from the fancy mugs from Blond - love it!

What I've bought in the store will remain secret for now. I'll post it as soon as I'll style my breakfast at least as fancy as we had with Kitty.

Pamatate si, ako som Vam tu uz hovorila o svojej zavislosti na Blond Amsterdam? Takze hadajte co? Sny sa konecne stali skutocnostou a ja som sa po prvykrat ocitla v ich kmenovom obchode, co bolo nieco ako raj pre dievcata kazdeho veku (vazne!!!)!

Myslim, ze Vam nemusim hovorit, ze k tejto zavislosti alebo skor zalube ma priviedla opat raz Kitty. A stale ked sme mali spolu ranajky v Amsterdame, tak sme pili cappuccino z tychto hrncekov.

To, co som si kupila v obchode ja, zostane na teraz tajomstvom. Ale urcite Vam o tom napisem hned ako si najstylujem ranajky minimalne do takej formy, ako sme ich mavali s Kitty.

I'm a rockstar!

As you can see, I've decided to dedicate this week to the Netherlands! You've already seen snaps of Amsterdam, Utrecht and now it's time for Volendam! Which is the most typical Dutch town ever, right?
So what we've done there? Besides eating haring and drinking Heineken, we had probably the best night ever. No kidding! Accidentally we found ourselves in the middle of carnival, which is the biggest fest in the town, which is highly attended by all the famous Dutch celebrities, such as footballers, their coaches, singers and many more. I hope I don't have to publicly confess that I didn't know any of them! But Kitty she knew them all and we had the most fun out of it, taking pictures with Jan Smit and other drunk singers, who were claiming to us that they were ROCKSTARS!!! 


Ako ste si mohli vsimnut, rozhodla som sa venovat tento tyzden Holandsku! Mohli ste si uz prehliadnut nejake tie snimky z Amsterdamu, Utrechtu a teraz prisiel rad na Volendam! Co je asi najtypickejsie holandske mestecko.

Last Thursday, Kitty and I spent in Utrecht. The city is little and cute, just like all Dutch cities I've seen so far (and I did a lot). We did a lot of walking until we found a cafe with chai latte and cheese cake.
Especially I enjoyed shopping in second-hand shops, which hide all the treasures, such as all the different books and tins, which I just NEEDED!!!


Minuly stvrtok sme sa s Kitty vybrali do Utrechtu. Ako kazde z holandskych mesteciek, ktore som zatial navstivila (a nebolo ich malo), je aj toto malicke a rozkosne.
